The Oscar owner Sean Connery is famous as the best (according to the opinion of most fans) James Bond. His other roles are equally very striking. But in 2003 a 73 years old actor claimed that he would not develop his career any more. What forced him to retire?

The Failure of His Last Film
The last film of Connery was “The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen”. The actor appeared on screens as the head of the league Allan Quatermain, but the movie didn’t have success among audience and critics. The Scottish man was furious because of the work on the project. Sometimes he even claimed that the screenwriter Stephen Norrington should be locked in the asylum. It was the last straw: “I am tired of idiots. The distance between those who know how to make films and those who chooses which films will be shot is permanently becoming wider”.

Boring Roles
The old friend of Connery, actor Michael Kein, supposes that the famous Scottish actor left his profession because of the latest roles. He isn’t interested in playing trifle roles of elderly guys. And his age doesn’t allow him to play hero-lovers and spies in the service of Her Majesty as in his prime. Even Steven Spielberg didn’t manage to convince Connery to act in a new part of “Indiana Jones”. His potential character had a too plain role.
Bahamas
What is Connery doing after his retire? He definitely doesn’t feel bored: with his wife Micheline Roquebrune, an artist, Sean lives on Bahamas and spends his days playing golf. His son from the first marriage, an actor Jason Connery, states that in his 89 years old the legendary Scottish man can still putt the ball with just one strike. The great actor also visits the cinema in Nassau sometimes, but more often he isn’t satisfied with the watched movies.
